Does AFC Urgent Care Fountain City Have a Lab on Site?
We sure do! Diagnosing and treating our community is what we do best, so we are proud to have a variety of reliable diagnostic tools at our disposal to help us get this done.
In addition to our digital X-ray machine, our full-service lab is open seven days a week and can process a variety of tests and samples that help our providers with accurate results and diagnoses.
Our AFC Urgent Care Fountain City team explains more about our lab and what services we offer below, so read on to learn more about our center!
What Testing Is Available?
Our goal is always efficient patient care, which is why we offer a variety of rapid tests that we can administer in minutes. These include tests for the flu, COVID-19 strep and RSV. Once the swab has been taken, it can be processed in our lab in as little as 10 minutes. We can also do urinalysis and cultures that are reliable at identifying infections.
One common test that we run in our center is called a CBC, or a complete blood count. This easy test involves a simple blood draw which is then run through our lab to count and measure the different blood cells in your body. This comprehensive test is a good baseline for your wellness since any sort of dip or rise in blood cell count can point us in the right direction toward a diagnosis.
Common Diagnoses Following a CBC
- Anemia
- A variety of infections
- Immune system disorders
- Blood diseases
What Causes Anemia?
You have probably heard of anemia before, and that’s because it is the most common blood condition in the entire world! Anemia is diagnosed when your CBC comes back low for red blood cells. If your body can’t produce the proper level, chances are that you are probably feeling under the weather.
Symptoms of anemia include fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness and a rapid heartbeat. Diagnosing anemia is easy for us! All we need to do is run your CBC lab and we can discuss treatment options together. Many people find success incorporating more iron into their diets, but we will find the right treatment plan for you.
Different Ways to Treat Anemia
- Eat iron-rich foods like lean meat, fish, eggs and dried beans.
- Consume more folic acid from dark, leafy green vegetables.
- Increase your vitamin D intake.
- Take an iron supplement if recommended.
