Why Is a Sports Physical So Important?
Spring sports season is getting underway! At AFC Urgent Care Fountain City, we want to make sure you don’t miss out on one important aspect of spring sports—the sports physical!
Why Does My Athlete Need a Sports Physical?
As with anything in life, you want to make sure your young athlete is as protected as possible during games or practice. A sports physical allows you to do just that!
During a sports physical, a physician is able to focus on the physical health of your child, as well as take into consideration his or her health history. Have there been concussions? How are the reflexes? These are all things you want to make sure are working properly before your athlete takes the field this spring.

What Is the Difference Between a Sports Physical and an Annual Physical Exam?
Even if your child had an annual checkup, it’s still important for him or her to undergo a sports physical.
During a sports physical, the physician’s main focus is on physical health and ability to participate in physical activity. During an annual physical, on the other hand, the exam is larger in scope and includes blood work (i.e., cholesterol and glucose).
